Ingredients

THE TARTARE SAUCE 

3 tbsp mayo

1 pickle

1 tbsp capers

THE FISH 

1 fillet of cod

1 egg

4 tbsp flour

2 tbsp Mornflake Oatbran 

Vegetable oil to fry

TO ASSEMBLE

1 slice of American cheese

1 sesame burger bun

Lettuce

Method

  • For your fish, crack your egg into a flat bowl & whisk, then mix your flour and Mornflake Oatbran in another.
  • Add vegetable oil to your frying pan until it’s 2cm deep, then heat on medium until hot. You know it’s hot enough if you add a breadcrumb to the oil and it fizzes & bubbles around.
  • Add your cod to the flour mixture, coating completely, then add to the egg to coat, then back to the flour.
  • Drop your fish into the oil, allowing it to fry on either side for 2-3 minutes, or until brown and crispy.
  • Whilst your fish fries, dice your pickle and roughly chop your capers, adding to your mayo and mixing well.
  • Toast your burger bun.
  • When your fish is done and crispy on both sides, remove from the oil and leave to drain on a piece of kitchen paper.
  • To assemble your burger, add 2 tsp of your mayo to the bottom of the bun, topping with a piece of lettuce.
  • Top with your fish, a slice of American cheese, then add 2 tbsp of mayo to the top of the bun and sandwich it together.
